Installing openvds puts several files (including license) in the root of the python environment
One of the files is LICENSE which makes it seem like every package in the environment is licensed CC BY-ND 4.0 which it most likely is not.
Can be reproduced with the following steps:
- create and enable a virtual environment say
./venv/
- Run
pip install openvds==3.4.2
. - look into the virtual environment directory
./venv/
(e.g.ls ./venv/
) - It now contains
Attributions.md
,java/
,LICENSE
,README.txt
and more from the openvds repository.
If these are required to be installed with openvds, I would expect to find them located at ./venv/lib/python3.11/site-packages/openvds
.
Details about environment:
- ubuntu & redhat
- python 3.11
- pip version 24.0
