Pandoc

Pandoc describes itself as a "universal document converter", and actually does a fair job of living up to the name. It can convert between many open and proprietary formats, and Pandoc has particularly good support for the CommonMark syntax used by GitLab Wikis. For example, it can convert from:

  • Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • OpenOffice/LibreOffice
  • MediaWiki markup (Wikipedia markup)
  • DokuWiki markup (Used by Plato Wikis)

While Pandoc often does a good job of conversion, some formatting may be lost in the process, so please check your results carefully.
