How to Model it service providers
Hi,
I'm working for an IT service provider. Our main business model is selling Nodes (Servers, VMs, Networks, etc.) to our customers. I'm struggeling to model this with Archimate. While it seems the main goal of archimate is to sort of abstract the technology layer away from the buisness layer, for us, a lot of stuff from the technology layer (like nodes and networks) is essentially what we sell to our customers. As such, we do have a strong need to model Customer relations with our technology assets. E.g. I want to be able to see, which server/node belongs to which customer etc. I have not yet found a way to model this. I would apprecciate any held/guidance on how to model this. Are there examples available for such a use case?

Hello Benjamin, it doesn't matter that you are selling technology or not, you are selling products, conclude contracts, provide services with a level of service, by example. You represent the context, the access to the services of your organization, the behaviors that they trigger in the organization and with the involvement of the organization in the archimate business models. To do this, you need to understand how the organization works and have the necessary skills in business architecture/analysis.

thx for you reply. I'm aware of those concepts and I'Ve used the im the past in other buisness environments. But I somewhat struggle with the new environment because the technology layer is the product that we sell to our customers. More often than not, there is not even an application involved. E.g. from a security standpoint I need to model networks and nodes and stuff to see how the technology is designed. Those servers are part of a hosting service that sells them to our customers. There is now application involved. How to I model that sort of thing with a hole layer missing? How to I connect technology assets like networks/servers(et to business actors , like customers/clients, etc).
You just model your asset as technology services that you offer by using business services. You may consider the business services into product (package) governed by a contrcat (set of). The offered services, support services, and internal operations are executed in alignment with current and planned capabilities at a defined maturity level.
