When producing models at different stages of design (conceptual, logical, physical) it is often necessary trace the evolution of an element as its name changes changes. While I use the "association" relationship for this purpose, this creates an inaccurate relationship, particularly when doing analytics. A separate relationship type "Trace" is becoming more and more important as the role of analytics in EA increases
