1. Group-type "content" is intended for scenarios where (a) the forum wants to structure the content for datasets (in a way similar to the LAS semi-structured format for well logs) and (b) where there is no DDMS to manage the content schemas. Since the RAFS DDMS exists, using group-type "content" is not appropriate here.
2. Publishing the content schemas as group-type "content" would allow or encourage the use of these content schemas to store data content/bulk data for rock and fluid sample analysis _independently_ of the RAFS DDMS. But that is not the intention. In order to use the content schemas, the OSDU user should go through the RAFS DDMS.
### 10. In early versions of the RAFS DDMS, there was an endpoint called "PVTModel". That endpoint had associated custom catalog/WKS schemas and DDMS content schemas. As of Feb. 2025, why were that endpoint and those custom schemas removed from the RAFS DDMS?
When the RAFS DDMS was in its experimental phase (2022-2024) and when the Data Definitions team was working on the "unified" sample data model, nearly all schemas used by the RAFS DDMS were custom and preliminary. As the Data Definitions data model evolved and the scope for a mature RAFS DDMS was solidified, many of those preliminary custom schemas were removed from the RAFS DDMS and replaced by published and approved schemas. PVT Model and related schemas were not removed until Jan./Feb. 2025, as the last vestiges of those temporary custom schemas.
As of Jan. 2025:
1. It is expected that the RAFS DDMS will be considered "graduated" in OSDU PMC Maturity criteria.
2. It is expected that the data type category of "Fluid Model" / "PVT Model" will be modeled differently than originally imagined in the custom schemas.
There was little to no value in keeping this endpoint and these schemas, so in late January, early February, 2025, they were removed from RAFS DDMS v.2.
#### More information on the business concept of "PVT Model"
To be clear, "PVT Model" is _not_ the same as "PVT Analysis". "PVT Model" is another name for, or a component of "Fluid Model". In a business workflow (see OSDU forum example [here](https://gitlab.opengroup.org/osdu/subcommittees/data-def/projects/Petrophysics/docs/-/blob/master/Design%20Documents/Pau%20France%20F2F%20Planning%202024-Apr/OSDU%20RAFS%20EandP%20workflows%20and%20data%20flows-Main%20Business%20Process.drawio.png)), the major tasks follow this order:
1) A fluid sample is acquired >
2) A fluid sample is analyzed by a lab >
3) That lab analysis is used to create one or more fluid models
As of Jan. 2025, steps 1 and 2 are supported by the RAFS DDMS. Data types for step 3 might be added in a future release (along with Rock Model too), but not at this time.
#### The custom schemas that were removed
For reference, the following are the original, temporary, Fluid Model-related custom schemas that were removed:
